May 19th WVA Vanity Painting

The next gathering for the Vanity painting will take place on May 19th at Smithy Moor Community Centre. We will be working on the second part of the March lesson.
We will be taking some time out of painting to visit a art exhibition located in 'The Venue'. This exhibition is put on by another local art club and will be on throughout the month of May.

Fruit Plate Workshop - 21st April 2008

A group of us took part in a workshop headed by Jackie Burgin to paint a large plate with lots of lovely fruit on it.

Jackie had worked very hard preparing the plates, so that we could get straight into the “main event”. Had this not been done, we would not have progressed quite so well. Thanks Jackie.

Jackie’s idea was to start with the hardest piece on the plate and then work down from there. This proved to be very successful.

The instruction was clear and precise and even the less talented of us made a sterling effort. The colours were wonderful and we had plenty of them with a myriad of shades on our pallets.

Most of us finished the plate, but even those who didn’t were well on their way to finishing.

A very good workshop and, as an added bonus, we had lots of scrumptious cakes, so we not only learned a lot but also gained some calories!
